Great tool for grades K-3! Don't use it as "the teacher," but rather the introduction to a new topic!
I found BrainPop Jr. very valuable to introducing new topics. I discovered BrainPop Jr. late in this year. I was using BrainPop, which was wonderful, but at times, too advanced for my 3rd graders. Then, I discovered BrainPop Jr. and I loved it! This site explains the material in-depthly, but what I love the most is that it offers a variety of ways to respond to the video! This was great because I could reach every level in my room in some way. The more advanced could write a response, the on-level could take notes and respond, and my lower-level (who had difficulty writing) could illustrate what they watched. There was also a notepad available where students could take notes. I really loved the availability of a variety of responses (sometimes I would even let my students choose which way they wanted to respond to the video because that would peak their interest even more). BrainPop did not offer as much of a variety of responses as BrainPop Jr. Which, you could always develop your own response, I know, but I really enjoyed BrainPop Jr.'s ideas on how to reach a multitude of abilities.

Foolproof way to engage all students in learning with fun videos, activities, games and quizzes.
Fabulous teaching tool as I found that ALL students, both high and low level learners, can connect to the characters and the content. They remain highly engaged and excited about learning. I especially like that following each video there are activities for various types of learners including a drawing activity, writing activity, word wall, additional reading suggestions, games and quizzes. I like to let my students choose which activity they would like to complete to show their understanding.
It serves the students well because it makes learning fun and it is available as digital content or paper and pencil content. I never had a problem with the content loading or not working properly. The website also includes terrific educator resources as a teacher. You can search for lesson ideas, related content standards, assessments, materials, and more. A nice wide variety of content is free but to have full access to the site the school district will have to subscribe and pay an annual fee but it is definitely well worth it!

A huge variety of short videos presented in an engaging manner!
This is one of the best educational websites that is both educational (so parents and teachers like it) and fun (so kids enjoy watching the videos and participating in the activities) which is why it's so frequently used by many teachers in my district. We are lucky enough to have a subscription to it. Even if you can only access the free videos, there are enough to explore and use. The 2-3 minute cartoons are filled with useful information and designed to engage the young learners. The site also includes additional content related to each topic that can be printed or used online. There are games, handouts, puzzles, jokes, and quizzes for every topic. I usually use it as an introduction to the topic we are discussing, but it can also be used as an assessment tool as well. The only issue is the price of the subscription. They have increased the price yearly and it becomes tough to justify the cost to the powers that be!

Awesome visuals and great supplement to mini-lessons!
I think this is an AWESOME teaching tool! Many students are visual learners, so these videos definitely appeal to their leaning style. I think that it is good for students because they are able to watch many of the videos again after class. Being able to access information outside of class and or school is wonderful, as many parents like to work with their children at home. It could serve my students better if more of the instruction resources were accessible without a paid subscription.

My students are always excite when they know I am showing them a Brainpop video. They are always quiet and engaged. I believe that these videos are short, sweet and to the point. It makes it very clear what each skill or concept is. The videos are very straight forward which are very helpful.

Engaging Videos!
a) The videos are academically engaging for all students. b) The website does not require downloads. c) BrainPOP provides videos for Spanish Speaking Students and ESL Students.
Cons of using BrainPOP: a) The videos only provide animations, therefore may lack some realistic aspect to the material. b) There are not videos for every topic in Language Arts in Brain PopJr.

Excellent Grade Level Videos
I liked the easy of searching for topics and the related topics that show up. The interface is clear and easy for students and me to use. I like the short questions that appear at the side of the video to guide students (sort of like a subheading). There are a broad range of topics. It would help to have Common Core Standards listed with the movie title or the ability to search by Common Core Standard as well as by topic.

A great way to kick-off, supplement, or summarize a lesson in Dual-Language programs!
This is a really good product to have access to. It is easy to pull up, and it only takes a few minutes of instructional time. I like the way the web site is divided up into subjects, so I can find what I want easily. It could serve my kids better if they were allowed to access it from home. It would serve my teaching better if there were more subjects/concepts to choose from, and if I had a way of quickly knowing the specific concepts taught in each clip, without previewing the whole thing.I have not had a chance to see My Brain Pop, the part that comes with some subscriptions, which tracks individualized student activities and quizzes. This would be a really great tool to have access to.
