An illustrated approach to a cross-curricular bevy of topics
I'm always glad to utilize BrainPop, Jr., when it applies to our instruction, but it would be great if the videos featured interactive checkpoints that allowed students to check their understanding throughout the duration of any selected clip. I also would like for content to be updated more frequently and reflexively given teachers' needs and wants.

Get's the point across
I think it's a great teaching tool. It does sometimes not have ALL the topics needed but it definitely has enough to get the job done.

Great way to engage students with short, interactive videos and a variety of activities to go along with each topic.
I think this is a great tool. I used it most often to introduce topics. It isn't the best for getting deep into topics.

Nice, if a little costly, resource for teachers
I found this tool to be a bit expensive to justify subscribing every year, but if your PTO is willing to pay for it or if you could share a subscription with someone else, it would be well worth it.

Great website to introduce new topics with interesting videos, fun games, and lots of activities!
Overall, this website is a great tool to use in the classroom. There are many fun videos to help introduce multiple topics across all subject areas. This website is much more than just videos though. They also have games, activities, quizzes, and teacher guided lessons with each topic. The website is very easy to navigate and user friendly for all ages. I would recommend this website mainly to teachers because they can pause the videos to have an open discussion with the students. Teachers can also create lessons around the videos or use the lesson provided to enhance student learning. Students can use the website but they must have an account in order to view most of the videos. It can be pricey depending on how much access you want to the website. Most schools purchase an account just for their teacher's use but if your school does not, I would recommend all teachers to purchase one.

BrainPOP Jr. is a one-stop shop: Animated movies! Learning games! Teacher lesson plans!
BrainPOP Jr features movies, activities and quizzes, exploring curriculum through content areas such as science, reading and writing, math, arts and technology, social studies and health. Everything is read out loud when the student hovers over making our learning to read learners know what is going on and how to navigate around the website. Each content area is broken down into units. When you click on units they are broken down into topics. You can watch the animated movies in different sizes and turn on closed captioning that will reinforce reading and listening. The short 3-5 min movies have two characters Annie and Moby, who use humor and questioning to get the students involved and thinking about the topic. It is appropriately geared to k-3 learners. I liked that is aligned with the common core standards and covers many of the topics in my kindergarten classroom. The different features on the websites allows for my students to dig deeper into the topics by taking the quizzes. It allows for multiple learning styles to be addressed by using features such as drawing, writing, and discussing about the content. With the easy set up and layout of the website, it allows for all teachers to be able to use this resource in their classroom.

Great way for introduction and a review of high points on a topic
My overall opinion is that this is a great teaching tool if used correctly. It isn't meant to teach an subject along but as a supplement for the lesson you are currently teaching. There are many available topics and it can be integrated into a classroom in multiple ways and settings.
The area of weakness is it's SAMR level, of augmentation.

Great website for students to get more information on a topic. The website provides assessments and printables. Brain Pop also has an app that can be used on tablets or iPods for center use.
