Students Programing Inside of a Video Game!
My overall opinion on using this resource as a teaching tool is that it is nearly perfect. It can keep the students engaged in a never-ending sandbox where they can create whatever they desire. All the teacher needs to do is to be the bridge that allows them to connect the two. Even long after the camp was over, the kids I know who were programming within Minecraft were still looking up different lines of code to write in order to make different and more complicated things within the video game. What's interesting is that some people even use this opportunity to make money and create different actions for other players to enjoy. There is an applicable sense to the idea of creating new programs in Minecraft. It's great that students want to go out of their way to work on this project, to the point where homework doesn't even feel like homework anymore. And as a teacher, when the students are actively engaged and want to learn more about the topic, that's all you can ask for as a teacher.

Wonderful Game to teach collaboration and encourage creativity
I truly Minecraft is a game that appeals to every student due to the freedom and creativity the game promotes. It teaches students how to collaborate and interact together to solve problems. The game even has complex engineering systems to allow students to create whatever they can imagine.

Great Game-Based Learning
Minecraft VR is a virtual reality version of classic minecraft. Minecraft is an open-spaced world, where users can collaborate and create basically anything they want. Educators are already harnessing the popularity of this game, with its ability to incorporate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts in a creative and collaborative environment. Minecraft VR is taking this experience to the next level by putting the user into the minecraft world. Minecraft VR is a great example of how games and VR can provide an immersive world that allows for creativity, collaboration, exploration and experimenting to thrive.

Minecraft is an interesting way to get your students to create and interact with their own worlds.
As a teacher, I find it difficult for my students to learn from using this program. There is no true end goal to the game so they just spend their time creating what they want on their own (this can be a good thing sometimes). I think that this is a fun game but it is not really helpful when trying to teach the children a lesson, it is great for recess and free time though!

Great tool for getting students engaged in the classroom! Perfect for any social studies class.
This is a great tool because it gets the kids super involved and excited about their learning. The teacher can create worlds on minecraft that pertain to the subject at hand. The class can enter the world and move through it at their own pace. Great for a blended lesson plan.

Great for teaching 21st century skills
Minecraft is an effective tool for students that supports personal learning as well as collaborative learning. By using Minecraft Edu, there are opportunities to incorporate content and material that can correlate and support instruction. I struggled getting comfortable with the game in the beginning, therefore I would likely only use this with middle to high school aged students. The content areas that are available to incorporate are more suited for higher education. For example, learning about computer science/coding and chemistry would not fit well in early childhood curricula. In order for it to be effective, teachers must closely monitor the students to ensure that they are not distracted and off task. It should probably also be used in moderation, as students could possibly become addicted to the game.
