Visually Stimulating for Preschoolers
Community Review for WorldWide Telescope
My Take
My overall opinion about his product as a teaching tool is it serves best as an extension but not as a teaching tool for preschoolers. My students did not learn anything but grew appreciation for the Milky Way and a deeper understanding of how it looks in outer space. I liked that it was a great way to visually stimulate the children and gain their interest in the views of space.
How I Use It
I used this product during my teaching of the solar system to my Jitta Bugs, ranging age of 2 to 5 years old. Although the product is listed for grades 7 to 12, it served as a great visual aid to show the students what space looked like. They were instantly in awe at the visual effects and the displays. They had enjoyed the sight of the Milky Way and we even tried to find different consolations. The view of Mars was even more enjoyable! The students did not really learn anything however it was a great addition to the classroom. It is a great resource to serve as a virtual field trip. One thing that did not work was it was extremely slow at times.
