My Take
I think that Weava is an amazing teaching and learning tool, especially for more advanced classes where students are required to research and write (whether in groups or on their own). There is SO much information out there that students have a hard time organizing everything. Weava helps keep them organized, and helps to structure better papers and essays. And to be frank, I use Weava almost every day in my personal life. For anyone who reads on the internet, whether news, PDF reports, etc., Weava is a huge time saver. It allows you to personalize the internet, and save ideas and information for future use. I really can't praise it enough!
How I Use It
I use Weava in a number of different ways. First, I use it for lesson preparation by highlighting news articles, reports, and other documents that I save for future use. For example, if there is a news story that I think would work for a future lesson plan, I highlight the article and save it for future use. I also use Weava for class readings. I will often pre-highlight and annotate PDFs or web articles, and share the collection with students. They can then see my highlights, questions, and comments, and they can directly make comments or answer my questions within Weava. I also encourage students to use Weava for their writing assignments, especially to prepare their research, organize their sources, and create highlights. Weava is really an amazing teaching and learning tool.
