Interactive Computer Science (STEM) Program for all ages!
Community Review for Tynker
My Take
I think it is definitely a good resource to use, especially since it is free. However, I think it needs more animation and/or audio to help the younger students understand what they are doing and WHY.
How I Use It
Let me start off by saying that I have only used the free version of this product. I started using this product for the Hour of Code with my younger students. For some of them, they were able to catch on and understand what was being asked of them. However, I think they need to add audio instructions, especially on the boards that are geared towards younger learners. The students enjoy the characters and that it is interactive, but once the level gets a little harder, if they are unable to read the instructions independently they definitely get confused. I usually have my younger students working in pairs when going on Tynker and I tell them to ask 3 and then ask me. While I do walk around the room and try to help the students, it can be challenging to explain to all of them what they have to do if they are unable to read it on their own.
