My Take

It is versatile as it addresses many needs our school has:
• identifies top five strengths, as well as interests and aspirations.
• suggests careers based on their strengths and interests.
• has careers videos about suggested careers
• Hope Index inventory identifies those with low hope: (Has goals + knows how to get there).
• Wellness Check shows how students are doing from week to week.
• Digital portfolio to show off students' best work.
• has other inventories such as MIDAS, Habits of Mind, Thrively Interest Profiler.
• video playlists to develop their strengths, explore occupations, grow social emotional wellness.
• allows parents to see their childrens' work
• I believe it breaks down race and ethnic barriers between me and students.

How I Use It

I have used Thrively for three years as a high school teacher. I give my students the Strengths Assessment at the beginning of the school year and meet with each student to talk about their strengths. I also use it for SEL check ins, soft skills development, and goal setting. It has been very effective at building respect between myself and students as well as students with each other—a key to any successful learning classroom. It has been an essential tool in my teacher toolkit. I hope to use it to guide project topics based on student strengths and aspirations in the future. I also hope to use it to aid me in forming teams with varying student strengths represented for higher quality outcomes.
