I like it because the kids can see how the Pilgrims and Native Americans interacted.
How I Use It
After teaching The First Thanksgiving in my classroom I use this to wrap things up. It is engaging but the kids can get bored. I try to show half of video and stop and talk about it and share out. After this we will watch the second half. I have found this helps with engagement and participation.

Engaging Site Deep with Info
I really like this but it can't be the only source for your lesson on the First Thanksgiving and Tech skills such as research and creating presentation using digital media. If you're looking for a site that will do it all this is not it. But if you're looking for a site that is full of graphics, is presented this history at the level of 8 thru pre-teen will connect with, and opens up students thinking about this important part of our history this is one of my favorite social studies engagement sites.

Very helpful resource!
It's nice because the lesson plans have been updated to include common core alignment. Also, the website provides tons of support for teachers to prepare and present best practice lessons. Additionally, the real life photos draw the kids in and help them relate more to the lives of the people. The only thing I don't care for is that fact that the website is not overly interactive or appealing. It's text heavy and would be boring to many kids (especially low readers) who encounter it on their own. I do value the information provided and it's a great foundation for a unit about the first Thanksgiving. A successful unit/lesson would definitely require additional activities besides just the website, in other words.
