My Take
I am very pleased with this product. The games are fun and challenging and keep my students interested. They really enjoy competing against their classmates and other schools. The ability to dress and design their own avatars is motivating and fun for the students. I use sumdog quite often in my classroom. My students beg me to "play" sumdog!
How I Use It
I use Sumdog as a review of basic skills as well as reinforcement of topics covered in math lessons. After teaching multiplication, for example, I have my students go to sumdog during computer lab to review their multiplication facts. I assign specific skills for my students to work on independently. My students are excited about the homework assignments and are anxious to complete them. Some of my students don't have access to computers at home, however, which is a problem when homework is assigned. I give those students a chance to use free time to catch up on their homework at school.
