This is a necessity in the current classroom. All teachers should be literate in this basic educational program for SMARTboard lessons in order to enhance everyday lessons!
How I Use It
This is a way to present your material other than powerpoint. You can download a variety of "tool kits" and resources to enhance any lesson (ie. base-10 blocks, coins, symbols...). You can also use in tandem with an ELMO to interactively write on hard documents and make them come to life.

SMART Notebook: Hasn't Really Changed since I used it as a Student
As an Early Childhood Education Undergraduate student, I did not see a value in implementing this technology in the classroom. It was hard to navigate and use. I want technology to be a help, not a hindrance. I could not get the programs to work in an effective manner that could benefit the classroom.

Not as good as I'd hoped
I liked that this tool has the potential of making a lesson very creative and interactive. However, the touch screen did not work very well and took a lot away from the lesson.

While originally innovative, this product leaves a lot to be desired.
Overall, I think that this technology is very out of date to a point where it no longer serves a purpose in the classroom. This technology was groundbreaking when it first came out however, it has not done anything to remain up with the times and a computer, ipad, or other personal device is much more useful than this.
