My Take

I would like to emphasize the benefits of manipulating materials, for both science and math, with your hands! But, if certain lessons/experiments are too costly, time inefficient, or tend to be prone to error, the virtual options PhET offers are extremely valuable. Using PhET also opens up opportunities for fully virtual learning in the event of emergencies (lockdowns, fully remote learning would be required). Nowadays, resources like PhET are invaluable for helping avoid learning loss in the event of being forced to move to fully remote instruction.

How I Use It

I would use PhET as a supplementary tool to offer visual representations of whatever my lesson would be covering. I think it is very important, especially in this day and age, to be able to use the virtual simulations in math and science as a more efficient and effective way to ensure students' understanding of the material. The virtual experience also saves time and hassle when dealing with fussy lab equipment, but also allows the students to reap the same benefits as manipulating the materials with their hands if tangible equipment is unavailable.
