My Take
Overall, it is a good tool for researchers, but some search results lack quality. The biggest issue with generative-AI is hallucinations, which can leave the AI susceptible to making up sources. It also struggles with a lack of transparency with how and when the AI got the sources.
How I Use It
Perplexity AI allows students and teachers to search scholarly sources like a search engine. It is targeted towards researchers who want to research nuanced topics without spending hours digging through inadequate search results. Students can ask questions and get answers from the AI regarding the sources.
