My Take

Peardeck is a FANTASTIC tool, and my students seem to enjoy this tool. They really like the drawing feature, and the drag and drops also seems to motivate them to participate. I do have a suggestion based on a student comment: "Could the Take Aways be published so we have access to other people's notes and comments?" So much of what we are doing is collaborative, so this really is a good idea.

How I Use It

I am currently using Peardeck as a Preview/Review for my Computer Science Discoveries elective. Students are currently creating a website, and they are working independently. On a weekly basis, I run a Preview/Review Peardeck and students share tips about they learned and then view what other students wrote. Students are in different places, so for some this activity is a preview of what they will be learning in future lessons, and for others it is a review. I am consistently surprised with how much students write. If I asked them the same question in doc form, I would probably get incomplete sentences and phrases. Students seem to want to write more when I run a Peardeck activity. After we complete the activity, I post the Take Aways to Google classroom so students have access to their own notes, and many students are choosing to link their notes to their digital notebook.
