My Take
I recently experienced Pear Deck at the ISTE conference, and I thought it was another canned assessment tool. I absolutely LOVE that this can be integrated with Google Slides as an add-on. I also love the idea that there are multiple assessment types for students, such as drawing responses. The idea that the teacher controls the pace of the assessment is a game-changer for me, as many of my students with special needs are "happy clickers" and do not often take the time to think about the questions. The data is laid out nicely, and its integration with G Suite is wonderful. This would also be a great tool to encourage students who would not respond in a typical classroom discussions feel more comfortable and show their mastery of the material.
How I Use It
I have not really used Pear Deck in the classroom yet, since I recently learned more information about the app. I plan on using it as a formative assessment tool to determine if individual students are truly grasping the material. This would be a great small-group rotation to provide as an exit ticket for students.
