My Take

This is a great teaching tool! I like that it is so easy to use. An account is needed only to create walls, anyone can view and add to walls (with proper privacy settings). I like that pictures, videos, links, and text can all be added, and that content can be credited or anonymous based on the user's preference. Walls can be private, hidden with link, or public. Custom backgrounds, icons, and even URLs can be added. A QR code is also provided for each wall. There are so many ways Padlet can be used, the limits are only in the user's creativity.

How I Use It

Students and teachers at our school have used Padlet in many different ways. The technology team (including myself) used it in digital ethics classes in the high school. Padlet was a good tool for this because we were asking students to give their opinions on serious issues like cyberbullying, online privacy, and sexting. The anonymity of the Padlet wall, even though students were in the same room, made students feel more comfortable sharing honest answers and sparked discussion. Other ways Padlet has been used: feedback during teacher PD, quick reflection after a field trip, to summarize research in science, a place to share descriptive sentences, labeling diagrams of science concepts, and more.
