My Take

Overall, I really enjoy this app. I suggest this app to teachers, but I also play it from time to time. I like the fact students have to use their existing knowledge of basic math facts to create problems with the given constraints. My only concern with this app is the option to play against someone within the Game Center. Teachers need to know and understand their district's policy on online gaming with anonymous players.

How I Use It

Numbler is just like Scrabble, only with numbers and operations. The students can play a game against the "computer" or another human. You can select the difficulty level is you play against the "computer". The goal is to create a number sentence, like 2+3=5. The next player has to create a number sentence that connects to Player 1's entry. Number sentences can include more than one operation too, like 2+3=6-1.

This is a great app for center work and for students who understand the four basic math operations. Numbler will force you to think about different number sentences you can create from the provided numbers.
