My Take

I believe Natural Reader is a great tool for students with text-to-speech needs. Students love the independence it provides that they may not have previously had. It is simple to learn and to use. Some of the voices are a bit difficult to understand depending on the text type you are highlighting, but often, switching voices, or simply slowing down the rate of delivery fixes any of these concerns.

How I Use It

We have used Natural Reader as an aid to students that need a text-to-speech accommodation. It works well for students that have a need to hear the text for various reasons. It is very easy to download and learn how to use – in just a few minutes a student can be up and running with the software. The floating toolbar is an added bonus when using text documents that you do not want to or have the ability to copy and paste. Simply turn on the floating tool bar, open the document, website, etc. where the text that needs to be read is housed, highlight what you would like read, and click play. It has been a hit with students that have previously struggled with large amounts of complicated text.
