My Take

Young writers challenge themselves to pen a novel during the month of November. Through a virtual classroom, students can keep track of each other's progress, get story ideas, give critiques, and read advice from published authors. Great way to engage all learners and meet them at their writing level, challenging them to reach the next.

How I Use It

Students set up their own usernames and passwords in our virtual classroom. Each student sets a word count goal. I typically spend the month of October helping students plan their novels using the lesson plans provided by the Office of Light and Letters. November is our writing frenzy! Students are encouraged to WRITE WITH ABANDON until November 30. We spend once a week for the remainder of the school year editing and peer editing novels for publication.
