Highly motivating tool for students of all abilities and ages!
Community Review for Memrise
My Take
My 6th graders love this! They beg for more time on Memrise! My 7th and 8th graders love the Leader Board. The competition is great for all students, especially those who are not easily persuaded to do more traditionally-styled assignments, such as paper-pencil worksheets.
How I Use It
I have a free account. With this account, I create my own lists of vocabulary to match what we are studying in class. I then invite students to join my class by sharing a link to my class. Once they join the class, they have access to the vocabulary for the entire school-year. The first year I used Memrise, students had to use a computer, or go onto a web browser to re-join the classroom each time I added new vocabulary (in order to add the new vocabulary to their account). Although this was a slight inconvenience, this step makes the vocab they are practice match exactly to what will be on their upcoming tests. Just create a GROUP, create a COURSE ,and then add the course to each group that will study that vocabulary!
