My Take
My son is dyslexic and math is his best subject. Not with MATHIA! It is very wordy and verbose, and tends to emphasize rather non-useful wordy jargon. I would say it is very discouraging for him to make a mistake and feel like he has to keep repeating over and over again. I have been helping him - the math is easy - MATHIA is NOT. As with all bad user interface designs, it is making the students learn a computer interface, rather than learn the subject. I would not recommend.
How I Use It
My son has MATHIA homework in Grade 9. It works as a computerized way to enter and read equations. It doesn't work as it is very wordy, uses obtuse concepts and jargon, and doesn't stick to basic simple Math. He almost gave up last night as he started as he said I'll never get it now as I made a mistake. If you make one mistake you are penalized and have to repeat, repeat, repeat. As a parent I felt we were learning more about the tricks of the program rather than the actual math concepts. It doesn't have a way to read the information out load for support for people with learning differences. So I was reading the problems to my son to help.
