Every map resource you could want, but little you can't find elsewhere for free
Community Review for Maps101
My Take
In exploring the Maps101 site, I came across many resources -- maps, video clips, games, etc. -- that were familiar. I had found these resources on my own, albeit over the course of several years teaching a specific curriculum, and through extensive web searching. If your entire school will be making use of Maps101, it might be worth the expense to have so many resources curated and organized as a time saver for teachers and students. Correlation to Common Core and extensive Spanish language resources are also a plus. For individual or small groups of teachers, however, a thorough Internet search will result in free access to most of the same resources.
How I Use It
Maps101 is an online source for all things map related: static maps with analysis questions, animated maps, map-based lesson plans, geography-themed video clips and online games and quizzes. The site is well organized -- maps, videos and lessons can be searched by time period, topic, or geographic region, as well as by their alignment to Common Core standards. Students teachers and parents have full access at school and at home with a paid subscription. The multitude of resources can be used in support of virutally any geography, history, civics or earth science curriculum.
