My Take
I think this is the future of literacy education! LightSail is a meaningful, engaging and thoughtful program for students of all ages. The use of technology is motivating for students and easy for educators to use. The assessments built into the text take away a lot of the guess work that can go into literacy education. When using LightSail texts/assessments I am confident that I am providing my students with meaningful instruction and assessment.
How I Use It
This is a great app to use in the classroom with students. I use it with my guided reading groups regularly. LightSail has allowed me to track my students' comprehension, and trouble-shoot with individual students when needed. I have noticed that my kids love reading on an iPad, and that using texts through the LightSail app is an incentive for even my most reluctant readers!
