My Take

I always play these all the way through before assigning them, and while this one isn't as exciting as the President one, I think it was a REALLY good way of showing off the entire process needed to make a bill into a law. Most students do not realize the extent of hearings, clauses, and how important it is to garner support, and the new updated 2020 version of this really makes you think and tweak your bill to try and get the most support. I used it with high schoolers, who love that it's a game but also genuinely learn from it. I think it could definitely be used from middle to high school-it never hurts to have a little fun with the older kids for once too!

How I Use It

I used this after teaching about how a bill becomes a law and the duties of Congress. We did this one in class with some pre-game reflection questions and post-game reflection questions.
