My Take

I think it's a wonderful instructional aid in helping students understand specific chemistry concepts that prove to be difficult to master for students. I don't use it as the primary direct instruction lesson, but as a supplement to help strengthen understanding. I like the Sal has a very extensive knowledge of chemistry concepts and is able to effectively convey those concepts in a pencast. I think it can help students understand from a different speaker or different perspective. Sometimes students just need to see the same concept explained by a different speaker on examples given in a different manner for them to understand.

How I Use It

I use it for students who have a limited understanding of the concepts to watch a pencast that illustrates the concepts. If students are having difficulty understanding concepts, I will have them watch the video in class. Sometimes I will have them take notes related to that particular concept.
