My Take

I thought that this app was super creative and cute. The concept is based on introducing the user to certain positive mental health activities such as meditation and mindfulness. The app itself is very entertaining with bright colors, sound effects, and music. The app utilizes gamification to bring the user through "missions" on fictional islands. Although the settings of the game and the missions are fictional, the processes in which the user is taught to solve the problems of the game are real and important concepts that can be extremely beneficial to mental health. I thought an important aspect of the app is that is explains its message when your first download it and encourages those with severe depressive symptoms to seek professional help. Overall, I feel this app is very creative and can definitely be utilized with younger students.

How I Use It

I could see myself encouraging the use of this in a classroom of younger students. The only downside to the use of this app with younger students is how much reading occurs in the app especially when you first get started. I feel like if teachers take this into consideration and use the app with grade levels around 4 and up, it could be useful in the classroom. It is also important to take into consideration that there is no website for this program, it can only be downloaded on tablets or phones.
