An Amazing and Insightful Way of Learning About Art and History
Community Review for Google Arts & Culture
My Take
I like that this tool has great historical descriptions of the pieces of art, which of course allows for a great deal of knowledge to be conveyed to students. It is very interactive and so I would say this is therefore a great educational tool based on that alone. The only thing missing is a meaningful way to collaborate with peers, as there really exists no way to work together via the app itself. This of course could be remedied in a classroom where you can have two students working together side by side, however if this were being used for distanced learning, there could be some trouble in that regard.
How I Use It
I would use this product in a teaching environment as a way to get students to engage with art and art history. It is a very interactive site and allows for students to learn about the history behind a wide array of artwork in a way that intrigues them. Students are able to find a work of art through various means, such as the feature that allows you to select a particular color scheme you like and from there you select a specific piece of artwork. Students can also tour world class museums ranging from renowned museums such as The Hermitage, The Cloisters, and The Louvre, to more historical locations such as the White House and the Palace of Versailles. Students can do a lot with this app and it serves to grow their interest and knowledge of art and history.
