A great way for students to share about what they are reading with each other.

My Take

Goodreads is not so much a teaching tool as a forum for talking about reading. This can be motivating for students to see their ideas and opinions about books in print, and have others interact with them. Younger students (under 13) must use a generic class account unless their parents sign them up. Comments can be limited to friends.

How I Use It

I have used Goodreads as a place to post book reviews and book ratings. My students have enjoyed reading other kids' reviews, and commenting on them. Many have found books to read as a result. Several of my students continue to use this site years after they have left my class.
