Community Review for Flipboard
My Take
Flipboard is a wonderful app that works on all platforms (best with ipad). It allows students to easily collect a variety of digital sources into a e-magazine. I use it as an easy tool for reviewing student sources.
How I Use It
I use flipboard in a couple of different ways. First, it is an easy to use, fast means to collect online sources. Second, I can have the students add comments to each article to summarize or paraphrase the information. Then, we can examine the same story subject in a different source to discuss the rhetorical strategies employed by each author.

Great visual for viewing an online magazine format!
Flipboard is very beneficial in the research aspect of education, as well as for showing the desktop and webpage design students how an electronic magazine can look. I like the how the product/website provides the opportunity to narrow the focus on a topic. It provides students with the visual of an electronic magazine, as well as giving them the additional means for research for a specific project in school. The product/website unfortunately is only on the Augmentation level of SAMR. If the product/website provided students with the opportunity to interact by building their own electronic magazines and developing video to be a part of the site, then the product would move up the SAMR ladder to the Redefinition level.

Great for Teachers to Become More T-Shaped
I use Flipboard to stay aware of trends beyond the silos in which I live. I am a middle school educator and keep up with information about education and middle school on Flipboard through Twitter. Flipboard also allows me to keep up with news about technology, design, photography, cooking, and San Francisco using Flipboard. I could imagine using it w/ students to encourage them to keep up with a wide range of news. Teens could "curate" their own magazine of news that inspires them or excites them.
