Great curriculum for teaching students of all ages about money!
Community Review for FitMoney
My Take
As a teaching tool, this app redefines what financial education looks like for all students, with a curriculum that is designed for all grade levels from Kindergarten through 12th grade. In a world in which so many adults are struggling with how to spend, save, and invest, this curriculum will help students with building strong financial habits early in life. The lessons are interactive with videos and online assessments, and those that pass the final assessment receive a certificate. The teacher of class has access to all of the videos and materials, and can see the progress of the students. The courses are set up in google classroom that the teacher has control over. The teacher also has access to supplemental lesson plans that incorporate the online videos and assessments to complete the full curriculum. I don't believe an entire personal finance course could be made out of this curriculum, but it would be great for a unit in a health or social studies class.
How I Use It
I would use this app in a health class setting to teach students how to be financially responsible. It is completely free, includes curriculum plans for each grade level, and allows for flexibility of the lessons to meet the needs of the classroom. The website can be a little bit confusing to navigate at first, but once you take a look at the sample curriculum, you will see how beneficial FitMoney can be. Once you have completed the forms, FitMoney will set up your google classroom with modules, videos and assessments included! I have not used this application yet, but definitely plan to use it in the future as a unit in my health class.
