A Free, Fabulous Assessment Builder!
Community Review for Edulastic
My Take
Edulastic is a fabulous assessment tool that allows the user to create formative and summative assessments using a wide array of question types. Once students complete the assessment, data is visible to aid in evaluating the instruction and developing interventions. This website affords educators the ability to create open-ended questions for students to visualize their thinking.
If you are an educator that is not comfortable creating assessments, Edulastic is not for you. While there are assessments that are available, they are mainly for ELA or Math. It will take time to create an assessment, but the time to setup is worth it to fashion assessments that meets the needs of your students.
How I Use It
As an instructor for an elective class, I am always asked to create opportunities for students to practice answering questions similar to what they would see on the PARCC exam. I have created assessments that have multiple choice, short answer and matching questions in Edulastic. For my ELL students, I have been able to upload images and allow students to type their responses to them. I have run into problems rostering students. My school uses Google Apps, which is compatible with Edulastic, but requires you to sync with Google Classroom. This process can be challenging and time consuming for the teachers. The Help Center is very helpful and efficient in addressing user questions and concerns.
