EdSitement is a great tool for research. Learners form a variety of abilities will find this very informative, interesting to read, and they will want to use it.

Great lessons. Use primary source materials. Some are long and may need modified.
Lessons are usually interesting; draw on primary source and add information about the subject beyond the textbook. Some articles could be discussed as a class, if warranted, and then progress to the activity. Some of the lessons are long (4 days) so you could not use them all the time; but some of them are worth the time for providing the Big Picture.
