Excellent resource for Flipped Classrooms
Community Review for Edpuzzle
My Take
This app and website have provided our students and parents an opportunity to review material taught in the beginning of the year and spiral back for repeated practice and understanding. Teachers can analyze data to see exactly where students are making mistakes to provide more personalized correction and reteaching. The only drawback is many videos are pulled from YouTube, which is blocked by our district, so we use our technology integrator to create videos for us to use as instructional content. Creating the content does take a bit of time, so if you need something quick in the moment, this app isn't for you. However, with careful planning and pacing, this app and website can be a powerful addition to your direct and indirect instruction and a valuable resource for both students and parents.
How I Use It
We use EdPuzzle as a platform to share teaching videos with our students that they can watch during center rotations during math. What makes this app so powerful is the ability to layer questions on top of the videos, forcing students to engage with the content before proceeding with the video. Questions can be multiple-choice with a variety of options (multiple answers, random order, etc) or short answer and students always have an opportunity to rewatch a segment of video before answering a question. The data is displayed in an easy to read format for teachers, allowing them instant information to guide their instruction. The EdPuzzle website allows teachers to select videos by a content search, pulling from a multitude of websites (YouTube, Vimeo, Khan Academy, etc) or the teacher can import their own videos for instructional use.
