My Take

EdPuzzle is a great tool for actively engaging kids in processing their content acquisition. I love that students are required to reply to prompts/questions (can't "skip"). The best features of this tool are the different question type options, the video editor (for length) and the ease of use (from uploading a new video to adding questions to the various grading options). It's a tool everyone should have in their tech toolbelt.

How I Use It

Before (or during) the study of content that is brand new or really big, I create an Edpuzzle for my students so they have a foundation of knowledge about the topic. For example, when we were studying athletes with physical disabilities, I created an Edpuzzle about spinal cord injuries, as many of the athletes we were learning about had this condition.

I have also used Edpuzzle to test content knowledge when I wanted to disentangle literacy skills assessment from the assessment of the content.
