My Take

I would use DreamBox mostly to reinforce what has already been taught in my classroom. Students could work independently on concepts already taught. I do wish that DreamBox offered more instructional mini-lessons prior to asking students to complete a task. Currently, students are shown a sort of demonstration of a math tool or of the concept with one or two examples, then asked to complete the task independently, using mental math. The fact that DreamBox is a mental math-based program can be difficult for some learners who may still require additional written practice and/or manipulatives. It is helpful to build math fluency.

How I Use It

DreamBox is excellent for small group reinforcement of learned concepts or further exploration of advanced topics.
