My Take
My district chose this program but I have enjoyed using it. I have heard that many districts like the program but it is very expensive per student. I'm not sure the cost. Like many things in life, you get what you pay for. I find the teacher side of things very easy to do. As a classroom teacher I don't know the background stuff about setting up classrooms.
How I Use It
I run guided math groups. One of the activities kids do when they aren't working with me is technology based and that is usually Dreambox. Students work 10-15 on Dreambox on lessons that I've assigned. I've assigned those lessons to either reinforce what we are working on right now, fill in a gap students have, or push them to higher concepts.

Very visual and engaging, but no always friendly
Overall I really like this tool, because it allows most students to practice independent skills. I think it could be better if teachers were able to opt students out of certain lessons that don’t fit the standard or the learner.

DreamBox: The Educational Technology That Kids Use Because They Want To
I think it's an excellent teaching tool because students find it very engaging. I like how the activities aren't just fun, but directly related to the skills they need for math. Sometimes it is hard for students to find the activities that I specifically assign in DreamBox.
