Adaptive Math Practice That Students Love
Community Review for DreamBox Learning Math
My Take
I like the teacher dashboard which makes it easy for me to monitor student progress. In addition, the ability for students to monitor their own progress is very motivating for them and is something I haven't found in many other programs. The tutorials are generally quick and provide additional reinforcement for students to compliment what I've taught. It is an expensive program so probably not available to every classroom teacher or school.
How I Use It
I use DreamBox to reinforce and review math concepts taught in class. Sometimes the reinforcement comes a day or 2 after a lesson and sometimes it's several weeks or months later. Generally I have students practice for 15-20 min at a time a couple times a week. My students absolutely love unlocking games, collecting coins and badges, and meeting new "friends". They like the choice they are given to practice in different areas. The ability to monitor their own progress is very motivating for them. The games and activities are far more engaging than workbook pages and it is faster than grading papers for me to see how students are doing. I also like that each student progresses at their own level.
