Community Review for Diigo
My Take
I share articles with my students, they read, highlight, look for word meanings, comment on it, etc. I share great resources with my colleagues as well. It is a great way to use it as a personal learning network as well because you can join groups, and communities of your interest as well.
How I Use It
I use Diigo to organize all my favorite digital applications such as websites, Apps, articles, etc. It is user friendly, you can add the free tool bar download to your Mac or PC and bookmark your favorite digital applications. I have created lists by topics such as WL, Flip Classroom, Music, Articles, Edmodo, etc. You can create Diigo for Education, as an educator as well.

Great collaborative note-taking tool!
I think it is a great tool to help students pick out main ideas and make notes on the things they highlight. The one thing that can be frustrating is that if one student highlights something another student can not highlight over top of what another student said. I think the document gets messy with all the highlighting that occurs. I overall really enjoy using this app.

Great for sharing annotations
this product teaches students the importance of annotating and how it can get you to engage more with reading material. something that I dislike is that students can not highlight a sentence if someone already has, but they can comment on someone else's highlight.

Diigo: My SECOND favourite curation tool
Diigo is a great tool, and I use it myself for most of my own 'bookmarking' activities. I say 'bookmarking' because diigo really pushed the boundary of traditional bookmarking.
They added:
1. sharing to specific groups (like classes)
2. annotation of webpages
3. search functionality within your bookmarks when you do a google search (if you enable it)
They also made it incredible teacher friendly. Teachers can:
1. create student accounts quickly and easily in batches
2. control rights and log on credentials (because students NEVER forget passwords, right?)
It's actually the best bookmarking/curation tool I have found in terms of functionality, but I find flipboard (which I reviewed here: /app/flipboard-your-social-news-magazine-teacher-review/4067671) to be more appealing and engaging to students because of the visual magazine format.
