My Take

It is a great basic skills assessment and remediation tools. In Math 8, the learners need to be able to solve linear equations as well as graph them the end of the year. With those goals in mind, there is no time to constantly review the basic math skills, such as multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting integers. I used Digit Whiz once a week for 20 minutes for these quick fixes. The learners move at their pace within a given time frame of a month.

How I Use It

I teach Math 8 at the middle school level. The majority of my learners have been students whom are one to two grades behind in their Math Skills. I used DigitWhiz at the very beginning of the year to access their basic Math skills: multiplication, integers, and equation solving skills. Each month the students need to complete a section to earn points. The most difficult thing is to set up the class. It takes time to either upload the right xls format or to manually input your student's name and ID.
