How I Use It

I used this for graphing any type of functions. Students have better understanding on the concepts of domain and range and the graphs of piecewise functions. when students graph the parent function, they see what is the picture of the whole function without the restricted domain. It enhances their understanding that a piecewise function is a combination of cut functions that are put together in one graph. I even let them use this tool in evaluating function values from a piecewise function. When students see where the graph of the x value crosses the graph of the piecewise function, they understand what specific piece to use in evaluating the function value.
