My Take
As a teaching tool, it is excellent. Students can choose music they want to play and I can help them focus on the musical concepts within each song. I also use the various lessons on the website to aid my students in music theory and other aspects of music. I like how my students can use the website at home to find songs, practice them, and then perform them for me during our weekly lesson. The only thing I am not happy with is the lack of free modern songs for the students to choose from.
How I Use It
I use 8notes.com as an extra resource for my private study students. I use it more as extra practice so that students have other music to play outside of their school/lesson required music and etudes. The choices aren't always exciting for my students, but they do enjoy having something different to play. The use of the guitar tuner and the metronome are very helpful to my students as well.
