MATHia and Carnegie Learning
MATHia is extremely difficult for students to move through. The materials and problems are quite wordy. From the highest student to the lowest student, they all struggle and there are many complaints. Personally, as I read through some of the problems, I became distracted. Also, they do not indicate how to enter your response and so students would become stuck, not because they didn't know the answer, but because they were not entering the response in the wanted format, i.e. decimal vs fraction, tenths vs hundredths, etc. I could see it being beneficial in settings where the students had a strong grasp of the concept prior to being assigned the concept in MATHia, otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

It's not what the students learn, it's HOW the students learn.
All the reviews about this platform are written by teachers and educators who aren't actually assigned to the workspaces. As a student who has used different online math platforms such as Khan Academy / Tenmarks, Mathia is NOT IT, and this is from not just me, but my peers as well. Mathia repeats it's lessons endlessly without keeping track of the students ACTUAL level of understanding. As teachers, we all know that different students have different methods of learning. Mathia just causes frustration in many students pushing them through question after question after question without helping them genuinely learn. My peers actually pay each other to finish their mathia for the week, and you don't know how much money you can make off doing another student's mathia. The students try their best to finish one workspace, but the disappointment that flows through your body after hitting one wrong button or making one small mistake and watching the progress bar drop, instantly creates anxiety and frustration. TEACHERS PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR STUDENTS. WHY ARE YOU A TEACHER IF YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF YOUR STUDENTS MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY WITHOUT GIVING THEM THE PROPER TOOLS AND ENVIRONMENT TO LEARN FOR THEIR FUTURE.

My son's teacher sits on her phone and only has them do mathia he's not learning the work.
The teachers need to teach the information not try and have mathia teach their students for them.

No, this system was difficult and only gave answer after over 3 missed attempts of an answer. Also, you definitely have to know the material before you learn a certain concept, otherwise it is virtually impossible to learn.
No, this system and math learning technique was not beneficial for the students in my classroom and it frustrated them more than helped them.

Only use after they learn the curriculum before hand.
Mathia failed at it's intended purpose, don't use until they already learn the stuff, because the Mathia explanations are very confusing and disorganized. It's left students in tears.
