Great Review for Language Rules that sometimes get overlooked in the classroom.
The Language Tab is exactly the type of practice students need. Many students are week in those skills (especially after eLearning). I also love that I get instant feedback with how students do with each skill the program moves through and in my small groups I can use that data to review concepts not mastered. MobyMax is aligned with the benchmarks I teach so the set up to start is so easy.

As an Educator of 20years, my daily instruction would not be the same without Moby Max
I am an educator of 20 years in Hillsborough County Public Schools. Many programs have come and gone due to funding or district initiatives. Moby Max is here to stay! First of all, the activities mirror Common Core which is a huge plus. You can easily search for standards or topic by grade level and assign them to your students/class. We have seen tremendous growth in students that are using this vs. those who are not. I am able to differentiate in so many ways by assigning activities in ALL subjects. Students take a placement test in Math and Language and then work at their appropriate level. You can assign specific lessons to reteach or enrich as well as sequence lessons to be completed by a certain time frame. There are many ways to engage students with contests in class or schoolwide. We just finished our schoolwide Fall contest in which participating students received a brag tag charm and Snowcone coupon. These contests can be easily set up with different goals: most time, most points, biggest gains, completion etc. In addition, you can pull and analyze data from each of the different modules. We use this along with classroom data as a great resource for parents to support their child on his/her individual level at home. I continue to learn and explore new things in MobyMax daily and continue to be amazed at all it has to offer. This program is truly changing the way I plan my instruction and allows me to give the most to my students.

Horrible website!
I used to use it in the classroom until my students said they hated it! If you get something wrong, it says "Try again for partial credit", but doesn't do anything useful. Plus, the grading is all wrong. And on the math page, it makes you take a test, then places you in a math lesson based on your score. One of the smartest students in my class got placed in third-grade math because she got one question wrong in shapes! Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Great tool for continuing the learning!
For my youngest students (kindergarten), the log in was super easy with a picture. From there, students could easily see the assignments and begin. Little time was wasted navigating the site. Students were able to work on target skills while I was not with them. This allowed each student to practice and make gains quickly. The program accurately pinpointed skills they missed, and I was able to assign further lessons to focus on these skills. I utilized the progress reports to see which advancements the students made through the week to guide my lessons. Moby also utilized its own motivation tools to keep students eager to log on and learn more. Parents were instantly curious why their kids always wanted to log on to this educational program.

Adaptive Resource, Use with Ease
MobyMax is a great "go too" tool that you can have students use in the classroom or at home with little prep time. I love how I can adjust lessons and access student data easily. My students have commented that they like how it moves quickly through a lesson (no long video or lengthy instructional content), instead it uses student error as the opportunity to show students their mistakes and gives the students the opportunity to learn from them. If no error is made, it continues to new lessons and content,

Best platform for individualized learning (and I've used a bunch!)
Since I only used it for math, I can only speak to my experience in that subject area. Overall, I was extremely impressed with MobyMax and have recommended it to other teachers and families looking for digital alternatives. (Due to the pandemic, it's currently free to sign up!)
So, how does MobyMax stack up against the other programs we've all used for K-8 math? Here's my take:
- IXL has a vast library of math topics at every grade level. Like MobyMax, it has a clean, simple interface that keeps the content at the focus. However, it offers little to no instructional support for independent practice. MobyMax has instructional videos (basic, but effective) for every single topic.
- Zearn has some exceptional, standards-aligned content and kids love how it looks and feels. But, Zearn is designed for a hybrid online/in-person model that requires a minimum use of almost an hour per day, even at the Kindergarten level. MobyMax actually works as a tool for self-paced, differentiated math practice in classrooms where teachers are using offline curriculum and students can't afford spend an entire math block on the program.
- Prodigy is super engaging, but pushes rigor in some grade levels more than others. It also has some very confusing on-screen "manipulatives" that can easily turn into toys or art boards. MobyMax is not as fun or flashy as prodigy. However, it's consistently rigorous without being too hard for students to use independently, and the simple interface keeps kids focused in a non-competitive way.
- Khan Academy might be the most similar product to MobyMax I've seen (at least for math). It's easier to navigate from the student interface than MobyMax and some of the instructional videos do seem stronger. However, it isn't really designed to be the kind of classroom tool that MobyMax is. As a teacher, I feel like MobyMax is a tool for both my students and me, with an understated but easy-to-use teacher account where I could really customize my students' experience on the platform. Additionally, MobyMax is strong at every grade level. Unlike Khan Academy, which is most robust in the upper grades, MobyMax has standards-aligned content—for every topic imaginable—from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Excellent and simple support tool for students.
Moby is a great tool for the teacher's toolkit, specifically in the world of remediation and allowing students that are ahead to work on advanced content. Other similar programs in the space often made things a bit too wide or complicated for students to really dig in or get into a flow, but Moby balances student-driven and teacher-guided well. It's really easy to get into the surface-level content, but there's a lot to it as you dig deeper into the different modules with a lot of targeted and specific practice available.
