Students love it!
My students really enjoy creating Vokis. I think the educational value is best determined by the parameters in which students are given. Sometimes they just are downright silly, but when given specific parameters (topic, expectations of learning to include, etc.) they soar. The one big down side is that we've hadWe've difficulty recording our voices using our netbooks. We've had greater success with typing in the monologue.

Excellent way of publishing "Student Voice" - literally and figuratively!
Excellent for students to use outside of the classroom. Keeps them in touch with the rest of class when away.
Would not use every week though - keep for special occasions.

Fun, voice to text, limited free edition
Voki is a website where you can choose from several customizable cartoon avatars. You input typed words, call in or record audio to make your Voki "speak." The free version is quite limited in the selection of avatars, but it's a fun option for short text-to-speech projects. The text-to-speech is also available in several different accents.

Engaging, innovative, and fun!
VOKI is easy to use and provides a variety of backgrounds and avatar-building options for both teachers and students. I use it in my classrooms to clarify and reiterate directions for projects and assignments and to post announcements for all students. Students may use it to create projects and illustrate their understanding of topics of study and classroom objectives. I believe VOKI is a fun teaching and learning tool for any classroom!
