Very effective tool for teaching keyboarding, digital citizenship, etc.
I find that the lessons are very well thought out, instructive and fun at the same time. The kids absolutely love the tool and enjoy learning typing in its fun, game oriented platform where they are constantly getting feedback by way of badges, stars etc. I was very please to have found it and highly recommend it to other teachers.

Interactive and Engaging!
I feel this is a great teaching tool for my students. At the beginning of the year they were cherry picking keys and now most of my class can type fluently and with more accuracy. I like how they throw challenges in for students to get better and the kids love it!

Helpful & fun!
As a teaching tool, TypingClub is a great venue for practicing and mastering keyboard skills. I love that each lesson is embedded into the challenges so students can progress as quickly or slowly as they feel comfortable with and I don't have to repeat lessons over and over for each one. The language and quality of the mini-lessons are kid friendly and digestible--YAY! I look forward to continuing the TypingClub challenges with my students next year.

Great Way to Provide Students With Self-Guided Typing Lessons
Overall, if you are looking for a basic program to track student progress through the progression of various typing lessons, this would be a great program.
The extension activities are limited. While teachers can create their own tests and activities, it seems a shame that more of those features are not already built in and ready to go, given the wide variety of typing games available for free online.
I do use the typing club to introduce basic typing skills and keep track of student progress through the lessons, but I will continue to use other typing activities to supplement this program. If you are considering purchasing a license to this program, look at the free programs available first. Another major benefit to consider is that typing club allows the entire school database of students and classes to be integrated through a mass upload of the information, making it easier to set up classes for teachers.

Great way for students to sharpen their typing skills!
I remember back to when I was in fourth grade and our teacher had provided each student with a laminated copy of a computer keyboard. We were expected to practice our typing skills at home on a 2-dimensional piece of paper. Needless to say, it was the opposite of engaging and the last thing I wanted to spend time doing. One reason why I like Typing Club is that I am able to provide a website that I know will be engaging. I received a lot of positive feedback from students, saying how much they enjoyed practicing their typing. They were very motivated by seeing their speed in words per minute and by earning (up to 3) stars for each level completed. I would have students excitedly come up to me and say they had received "3 stars" for a level or that they only received 2 and wanted to go back and try for 3. Sometimes we would have friendly competitions where students would challenge each other (or me!) on a specific level to test their proficiency against others. Another reason why I like Typing Club, is that it's a terrific way for students to monitor their own progress, repeating lessons if necessary and moving up through the levels at their own pace.
As far as critiques for the website, I do have a few. One downside would be the fact that students can jump to a higher level, even if they have not mastered the more basic levels. I would prefer for students to need a certain score in order to move on to higher levels, and I would like for each level to be mandatory. Another issue I ran into was the fact that some students would become so engrossed with the speed of their typing, they would stop paying attention to accuracy. While the program does provide "phantom fingers" on the screen to remind students of which finger goes with each key, I realized that if I did not monitor and offer feedback to students on keeping the correct fingering, they would revert to just using their index fingers.
Overall, I have found Typing Club to be a very useful tool in the classroom and would recommend it to both colleagues and students with little reservation.

Typing class back in the 20th century is nothing like this product which is easy to use and motivating.
I am old enough to remember taking typing class with actual typewriters with actual ribbon and actual paper. Typing practice back then was laborious and awful. Typing Club is far superior for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I notice errors because they turn red during the practice. This makes me backspace, slow down, and move ahead. Secondly, I get excellent data that motivates. I see my WPM and my accuracy rate. I can also see which keys are problematic for me. I find this motivating. Many students also find this motivating because they want to try again to get a better score. For a free program, this is amazing. My son in elementary school also used this program and LOVED it because he is a gamer. He loved trying to best he previous score and gleefully showed me his class list when he was at the top. Truthfully, I like using it for trying to break my habit of hitting the space bar after a period. Old typing habits die hard.

Great site for students to practice keyboarding and monitor progress.
This is a great site for students to learn and practice keyboarding skills. Keyboarding is an important skill for students in the future. Keyboarding is listed as a necessary skill in the Common Core to meet standards. I know there are many methods students could use to input information, but keyboarding is specifically listed in the Common Core.
