Great review website. Kids love it!
I do enjoy the website. The only set up is creating accounts. Otherwise they work at their own pace.

Repeated, timed practice in a fun way.
The big picture for this website is practice, practice, practice. There is not much there for deeper levels of understanding or enrichment, but the students will love challenging each other to some very fun and addictive games where they will practice their math facts over and over again without realizing it. As the students start to get more and more problems correct, it will give them more challenging problems from simple adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, to the use of decimals and percents, all the way up through expanding and simplifying algebraic equations.

Fun way to encourage automaticity of math facts
I am yet to find a resource that is as good for helping students with automaticity. My students willingly answer thousands of questions outside of school. Students can add friends and compete against each other. I love the adaptive nature of the questions and that as a teacher I can adjust the skills. I've been using this site for two years now. I appreciate the regular improvements they've made.

Great Math Facts Site
Sumdog is a great way for kids to practice their math facts. The free version allows students to play games whose scores are based on the amount of math problems answered correctly. Students really love this site. They enjoy playing against each other in the Class mode. The many regional contests are a big motivator as well and have had many of our students win or place in the top ten in the entire state!

Sumdog Math keeps my 2nd graders engaged all year!
Students enjoy this site and the games are engaging. They can't quickly guess to gain points, they have to try hard to earn points. The best part about it is the playing against other members in your classroom. This is my student's favorite part.

Engaging Online Maths
This is a great teaching tool. It is based more in the homework field but some in class challenges can be made. I like the games on it. There are a wide variety of games which are engaging and quite entertaining. The only aspect of this website is that it quick basic fact practice and not really solid learning of concepts. The students would have to know their basic facts in order to enjoy it. It has just started to use writing and reading as part of their program, but yet again it is not teacher driven more student driven. To make this program better they could add teacher lessons to do in class to teach specific topics. This would make it a well rounded program so that is was teacher and student driven.

Addicting math games with little to offer for deeper understanding.
I dont have a high over all opinion of this product. It loses its educational value after the 2nd grade for average math learners. The best way to describe its inadequacies is that it does not offer any opportunity for deeper understanding of the content. Students enjoyed it, but they enjoyed the game playing and avatar alterations more than the math content.

First computer activity students ask for...The want to do it at home.
Students enjoyed the interaction at the same time practicing their basic math facts. Students also enjoyed creating their avatars and earning enough to purchase other items. Students commented on their levels as they changed. Students also worked harder when a contest for our area was being offered.

Kids are begging for Sumdog time - 4 stars
The best thing about Sumdog is the extremely high levels of student engagement. My students are addicted to Sumdog like it's the hottest video game, and they are constantly discussing their rankings and coin accumulation. Of course, given that they are reinforcing math skills with an adaptive system, I am quite happy with this obsession!
