Catchy rap music videos to teach concepts, like math formulas.
This review is specifically for the Geometry and Measurement section under Middle School Math http://www.flocabulary.com/topics/geometry-measurement/. There were ten videos in this section. "Money" is not really a middle school math topic, this tends to be covered in early elementary school. "It's all about the Mathematics" has creative lyrics, but no supporting visuals, which makes the topic harder to understand without background knowledge or for students with lower literacy rates. "Trapped in a Prism" has a strange plot line. Overall, this is a great tool for teaching the basic formulas that students need to remember to be successful in geometry. There is support for the teachers - with suggestions of how to incorporate it into the classroom and embedded activities on the website. There is support for the students by providing links in the text of the lyrics for concepts they might want or need more information on.

These songs are a great way to introduce a topic.
I have used Flocabulary since it beginning. The "Week in Rap" and "18 years of Rap" are highlights. Kids really take interest in topics that are not always interesting. I did a comparison of "Conjunction Junction" from School House Rock and the "Conjunction rap" in a recent workshop.

Vocab that Sticks
Flocabulary is a great way for students to be introduced to vocabulary for a unit. It can also be used as a way to reinforce what you are currently teaching. The songs are catchy and stick in the students head. The students get into the raps and it helps them to retain the vocabulary. The videos are also great as it provides support for the visual learners. The tests and quizzes are easy and quick ways to asses comprehension and understanding. If flocabulary is used too frequently, sometimes students will become unengaged.

It works!
I use it and kids will ask for it as reward even. The music and lyrics stick with the kids and they will use it at home on their own.
