Great to use when you are trying to teach the connection to history and geography.

This allows students to view areas more clearly.

I have found that students retain and enjoy geography more when they interact with it. Just merely studying a map on a piece of paper doesn't engage students. Google Map allows individuals to add text, an image, a link - even embed a video for any location on earth. The maps can also be shared - just as other Google applications - with others and groups of people can collaborate on a map.

The go-to navigation/maps app. Whether you're a tourist searching for the nearest metro stop or simply looking for a short-cut through your local park, this is the most comprehensive, accurate app I've seen. The street-view is a nice touch, helping with recognition. It is also easy to switch between what modes of transportation are available. Interesting to see how much time you save/lose by taking the bus as opposed to driving, or vice versa.

Google Maps (Street View specifically) allows kids to navigate and explore the world around them. Kids can visit many historical sites around the world without leaving the classroom!
