I like this app more than other handwriting apps I have seen because it gives the letter name as well as the sound when they are learning. It gives them practice recognizing the letters as well. I also liked the the way the letters were made as opposed to other apps.

I think this is a great introductory teaching tool. I like that you can focus just on lowercase or uppercase letters, that the app includes both letter sounds and letter names as well as the two paired together. It's also helpful that there is a phonics section and for each group of activities, a child is asked to review the last three letters or sounds before moving on to learn new ones. Another great component of this app is Recording Studio, which allows parents or teachers to record their own voice for each letter name and sound. This can also enable the integration of second languages, if you have someone record the letters in another language (French, Spanish, German, and English come with the app). I do wish that you could choose specific uppercase letters to practices (like you can with the lowercase letters via the alphabet page). It would also be great if you could track individual children's progress if you have multiple children using the app.
