LESSON

Telephone Trouble: Mis- & Disinformation

How does information change as it spreads, and what should I do when I come across misinformation or disinformation?

This lesson playfully engages students to demonstrate how online content transforms as it spreads, sometimes through honest mistakes and at other times through deliberate manipulation. Through an interactive game of telephone (with a twist), students distinguish between misinformation and disinformation, analyze why false content spreads so quickly on social media, and develop practical strategies for responding when they encounter questionable information.
