LESSON
Sharenting Slip-Ups
How can I protect my digital identity?
When parents and family members share photos or stories about children online, they often have the best intentions, but may not consider the long-term impact on a child's digital identity. This lesson helps students understand how their online presence is shaped not only by their own choices, but also by what others post about them. Through an engaging dilemma about "sharenting" and thoughtful reflection, students will explore the importance of consent in digital sharing and develop strategies to advocate for themselves when content about them online makes them uncomfortable.
Objectives
- Understand how digital identity is shaped by both our personal choices and others' actions
- Develop strategies for how to respond when content about them online makes them uncomfortable
